Editorial Policy

Last updated: August 11, 2025

At Urbaki Pets, our goal is to help everyday pet parents make confident, compassionate decisions. We publish practical, easy-to-use guides about care, behavior, enrichment, nutrition basics, and life with pets. This policy explains how we create, review, and maintain our content.

Our Standards

  • Usefulness first: Every article must solve a real reader problem or answer a common question clearly and completely.

  • Accuracy & safety: We avoid speculation, and we never offer medical diagnoses. Health-related content is reviewed against reputable veterinary sources.

  • Clarity: Plain language, step-by-step guidance, and scannable structure.

  • Originality: We do not publish unedited, mass-produced, or derivative content.

Disclaimer: Content on Urbaki Pets is for educational purposes only and not a substitute for professional veterinary advice. Always consult a licensed veterinarian regarding your pet’s health.

How We Create Content

  1. Topic selection: Based on reader questions, search intent, seasonality, and editorial priorities.

  2. Research: We consult primary sources (peer-reviewed studies, official guidelines) and trusted organizations.

  3. Drafting: A writer produces the first draft with actionable steps and clear takeaways.

  4. Editing: An editor revises for accuracy, structure, inclusivity, and readability.

  5. Fact-checking: Claims are verified; stats and definitions are cross-checked before publication.

  6. Final review & publish: We add internal links, alt text, and calls to action.

  7. Maintenance: We review and update articles on a defined cadence (see “Updates & Review Cadence”).

E-E-A-T, Bylines & Pen Names

  • Articles display an author byline and a short bio that reflects real roles and interests.

  • Urbaki Pets content is produced by the Urbaki Editorial Team. We may publish under editorial pen names when work is collaborative (writers, editors, fact-checkers).

  • We do not claim veterinary credentials unless explicitly stated on the author’s bio.

Sources We Rely On

We prioritize:

  • Primary literature: peer-reviewed journals, systematic reviews, recognized textbooks.

  • Reputable organizations & agencies: e.g., international/national veterinary associations, animal welfare organizations, and government health agencies.

  • Expert interviews & first-hand experience: trainers, behavior consultants, shelter volunteers, and responsible pet owners.

We avoid: unsourced claims, low-authority blogs, and marketing copy presented as fact.

Citations & Attribution

  • When information is health-adjacent or data-driven, we cite sources within the article (inline or reference section).

  • We credit images and respect licenses for stock and third-party assets.

AI Use & Human Oversight

  • We may use AI as a limited tool for brainstorming, outlining, or language assistance.

  • We do not publish AI-generated articles without substantial human authorship and editing.

  • All content is planned, written, edited, and approved by humans and fact-checked before publication.

  • We will never use AI to fabricate experiences, reviews, or expert opinions.

Product Recommendations & Reviews

  • Our recommendations are independent and based on usefulness, safety, availability, and reader feedback.

  • When we have hands-on experience, we state it. If we rely on secondary research, we say so and cite sources.

  • If products are provided as samples or if content is sponsored, we disclose it clearly.

Affiliate Disclosure (Summary)

  • Urbaki Pets may earn a commission from qualifying purchases via affiliate links, at no extra cost to you.

  • Affiliate relationships do not influence which products we cover or what we say about them.
